Well Check Sick Visit
Dear patients/parents, this document is meant to explain in detail the definition of a Well Check at our office and all the services being rendered during a Well Check. We would like to ensure that we as transparent as possible and help you understand the difference between a Well Check and a Sick Visit. HealthCare services constantly change and we have been asked from both Private and Public insurances to ensure our physicians follow protocol. Well Check
A Well Check appointment is a visit which the patient has no medical concerns at that time. The doctors will conduct a complete physical exam, ensure the patient is meeting all developmental milestones and help educate the patient/parents on preventing illnesses, safety and nutrition.
Sick Visit
A Sick Visit appointment is held when the parent/patient has a new concern and/or the doctors have discovered a symptom while the patient is in the office.
Please be advised, if you are in the office for a Well Check and a patient/parent voices additional concerns or the doctors discover any new concerns (i.e. illness, rash, acute or chronic sickness, developmental delays, abnormal physical exam) or any additional time must be spent regarding a diagnosis, prescriptions, referrals or additional education on concerns/illness not part of the well exam, the visit will become a Well Check plus a Sick Visit and will be charged as such. If at the time of the Well Check you have additional concerns, you have the option to schedule a separate appointment to discuss those concerns. You must inform the provider at that time you prefer a separate appointment.
